Last Deal
A mere decade after their formation, the Last Deal has finally released Berdache, a 9-track rock-gasm that sears your ears for over 50 throbbing minutes. Lulling you in with an expansive sea of cycling grooves and seamless, mind-blowing transitions, Berdache narcotizes you before it bares its teeth. When the towering riffs finally burst out of the swell, they lash with a fury that lashes you in only your favouritest of places.
The bulk of Berdache was self-recorded in the band’s majestic “mansion on the hill” in the early part of 2006. Seeking someone with a fresh set of ears and some distance from the all-consuming recording sessions, the tracks were sent to Greg Dawson (Mare, Moneen, the End) for mixing. His experience and predisposition towards heavy music made him a lock for the Last Deal boys, who, after reams of demoralizing studio-abortions, finally have a recording that sounds as good as they do.
